Reims snatch draw with leaders PSG
Folarin Balogun, on loan from Arsenal, scored a stunning 96th-minute equalizer, leading Reims to a 1-1 draw against 10-man PSG, the Ligue 1 leaders, on Sunday.
Neymar’s goal early in the second half seemed enough for PSG to take the win, but Balogun’s breakaway goal earned Reims a deserved draw.
The result extends Reims’ unbeaten run to 14 games and keeps them mid-table.
PSG have now dropped points in 3 of their 4 league games this year, causing concern with their Champions League last-16 tie against Bayern Munich approaching.
Coach Galtier started Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar together for the first time since the World Cup, using a 4-2-4 formation with Carlos Soler joining the star attackers.
PSG struggled without Verratti in midfield, but took the lead when Neymar converted a Messi shot in the 51st minute.
However, Verratti was later sent off, causing PSG to play with 10 men. Reims were initially awarded a penalty, but it was cancelled due to offside and VAR-prompted Verratti red card.
PSG had a goal disallowed and Ramos hit the bar, but Balogun’s late goal secured the draw.
