Goalless draw sees Real Madrid lose ground in title race
Real Madrid’s hopes of catching La Liga leaders Barcelona took a hit as they were held to a scoreless draw against Real Sociedad at home.
The result puts Los Blancos 5 points behind the top spot. Credit must be given to Sociedad for their impressive performance.
The match started brightly with the first chance going to Sociedad, but Alexander Sorloth missed the target. Vinicius Junior countered for Madrid, but his shot narrowly missed the post.
Madrid dominated the first half and had an opportunity to take the lead, but Sociedad’s goalkeeper made a crucial save.
The second half was a similar story with Madrid pushing and Sociedad defending.
Sociedad mounted a late surge, but Takefusa Kubo missed two good chances, thwarted by Courtois.
Despite Madrid’s late push, they failed to find a winning goal, disappointing Carlo Ancelotti’s men.
