Video: Lionel Messi only scores unbelievable goals
Lionel Messi starred as Paris Saint-Germain defeated Toulouse 2-1 on Saturday in Ligue 1, despite missing injured players Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
Toulouse midfielder Branco van den Boomen opened the scoring with a 20th-minute free-kick, but Achraf Hakimi equalized before halftime. Messi then scored the game-winning goal with a left-foot strike just before the hour mark.
This was Messi’s 10th goal in Ligue 1 and 15th for the club this season. PSG is now eight points clear at the top of the league, ahead of Marseille.
Mbappe will miss the next few games due to a thigh injury, and Neymar was absent due to an adductor problem.
PSG will face Bayern Munich in the Champions League last-16 first leg on February 14. Midfielder Renato Sanches was forced to leave the game with an apparent hamstring injury.
Substitute El Chadaille Bitshiabu was booked and Toulouse’s goal was disallowed for offside.
Hakimi set up Messi for the winning goal, which was disputed by Toulouse coach Philippe Montanier due to Marquinhos blocking the goalkeeper’s view.
