Premier League: Casemiro will be forced to sit out for three crucial matches of Manchester United’s Premier League campaign after being red-carded for putting his hands around the throat of an opponent in the match against Crystal Palace.

The defensive midfielder was dismissed by referee Andre Marriner after a VAR check showed the 70th minute incident involving Eagles player Will Hughes.

Despite the suspension, Casemiro is set to return in time for the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United at the end of the month.

In his absence, Manchester United will face back-to-back games against Leeds United and a domestic match at home to Leicester City, along with Europa League ties.

This marks the first time Casemiro has received a straight red card, both during his time at Real Madrid and 30 matches in all competitions with the Red Devils, as revealed by Opta.
