PSG routs bitter rival Marseille 4-0 but sees Mbappé limp off
PSG launched a relentless assault in the early stages, displaying genuine intent, and their efforts were rewarded with a well-deserved lead within the first 10 minutes.
The goal, however, had an element of embarrassment for Pau Lopez. He was caught off guard by a long-range free kick from Achraf Hakimi, the right-back arcing the ball into the near bottom corner of the net when the goalkeeper anticipated a lofted delivery into the box.
Despite PSG’s dominant performance, Marseille posed a counter-attack threat and had a golden opportunity to level the score in the 22nd minute. During a swift break down the right wing, Jonathan Clauss delivered a delightful cross to an unmarked Vitinha at the back post, but the former Braga player failed to keep his subsequent header on target.

Shortly after this chance, PSG suffered a significant setback when Mbappe was substituted due to a suspected injury in the 30th minute.
Even in the absence of their star player, PSG managed to extend their lead before halftime, courtesy of their new signing, Randal Kolo Muani. The French international pounced to tap the ball into an empty net after Hakimi’s long-range effort had struck the post.
A few minutes into the second half, PSG made it 3-0. The goal came from Mbappe’s replacement, Goncalo Ramos, who aggressively attacked a whipped cross from Ousmane Dembele on the right flank to score his first goal for the club.
PSG controlled the rest of the second half comfortably, thanks to their ball retention skills and the lackluster performance from Marseille.
In the closing minutes of the game, Les Parisiens added a well-deserved fourth goal. Ramos secured his second of the match following a swift counter-attack orchestrated by the impressive Kolo Muani.
