Nottingham progress to the EFL Cup semi-finals after penalty shoot-out

Nottingham Forest advanced to the semi-finals of the EFL Cup after defeating Wolves 4-3 on penalties following a dramatic match at The City Ground.

Willy Boly, a former player for Wolves, put the home team ahead in the first half, but the lead was cancelled out by a tap-in goal from Raul Jimenez in the 64th minute, sending the game to a penalty shoot-out.

Forest went in front in the 18th minute through a fluke goal from a corner, where a near post flick-on from Serge Aurier hit the bar and fell to Boly to tap in from close range.

Wolves put in a strong effort, but were unable to score in the first half due to two outstanding saves from Dean Henderson.

The game remained tied and the two teams went to penalty kicks, where Joe Hodge missed the all-important fifth penalty for Wolves, which was saved by Henderson, securing the victory and advancement to the semi-finals for Forest.
