Chelsea sign Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix on loan

Chelsea Football Club has secured the loan signing of Portuguese forward João Félix from Atlético Madrid for the remainder of the 2022-23 season.

The Blues will pay a reported fee of £8.8 million to borrow Félix for six months. Félix signed a new contract with Atlético Madrid until 2027 before joining Chelsea.

He has made 131 appearances for Atlético, scoring 34 goals and recording 18 assists, and helped the team win the Spanish league title in the 2020-21 season.

Félix is Chelsea’s fourth signing this January, following deals for defender Benoit Badiashile from Monaco, forward David Datro Fofana from Molde, and midfielder Andrey Santos from Vasco da Gama. The loan deal does not include an option to buy at the end of the loan period.
