Bayern Munich Edge Closer to Bundesliga Leaders After Tense Bavarian Derby Win

Champions Bayern Munich edged closer to Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen after a tense 3-2 win over Augsburg in the Bavarian derby on Saturday.

Bayern are now just a point behind Leverkusen, who welcome Borussia Mönchengladbach later today.

The German record champions were given a scare early on when Augsburg were awarded a penalty in the fifth minute, but the decision was overturned after a VAR review.

Elvis Rexhbeçaj then thought he had given Augsburg the lead, but his goal was ruled offside.

Bayern eventually broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute through Aleksandar Pavlovic, who scored his first goal of the season.

Alphonso Davies doubled Bayern’s lead before the break to put them in a comfortable position.

However, Augsburg pulled one back in the 52nd minute through Ermedin Demirović.

Harry Kane restored Bayern’s two-goal advantage in the 58th minute, but Augsburg were awarded two late penalties.

Manuel Neuer saved Sven Michel’s effort in the 88th minute, but Demirović made no mistake from the spot in stoppage-time to set up a nervy finish for Bayern.

Undav Hat-Trick Inspires Stuttgart to Thrash Leipzig

Deniz Undav scored a hat-trick as VfB Stuttgart thrashed RB Leipzig 5-2.

Enzo Millot and Undav gave the hosts a 2-0 lead before Leipzig reduced the gap with Benjamin Sesko before the break.

Jamie Leweling scored a third for Stuttgart early in the second half, to which Leipzig found a quick answer with Lois Openda in the 55th.

But Stuttgart reacted just a minute later with Undav, who completed his hat-trick and the final scoring in the 75th minute.
