Al Hilal stun 10-man Flamengo to reach Final Club World Cup
Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia advanced to the FIFA Club World Cup final with a shocking win against South American champions Flamengo in Tuesday’s semi-final match. They secured a 3-2 victory against the South Americans, who had a player sent off.
In a chaotic match, Flamengo was at the receiving end of two crucial referee calls, resulting in two penalty goals within the first 45 minutes.
Al Hilal took the lead early on through a penalty goal by Al Dawsari in the fourth minute, after Matheuzinho tripped Luciano Vietto in the box. However, Pedro equalized for Flamengo with a close-range shot in the 20th minute.
Before half-time, Al Hilal regained the lead with another penalty decision in their favor. Gerson received his second booking for stomping on Vietto in the penalty area, leading to his sending off and Al Dawsari’s second goal of the night.
Al Hilal secured the game in the second half with Vietto scoring with assistance from Al Dawsari. Despite Pedro’s late goal, Flamengo’s chances of reaching another Club World Cup final were thwarted.
Al Hilal will now face the winner of Wednesday’s match between Real Madrid and Al Ahly.
