A rocket from Gray gives Everton deserved point

On Saturday, Manchester City’s defense of their Premier League title suffered a major setback as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton.

City needed a win at the Etihad Stadium to put pressure on Arsenal, who were playing Brighton in the late game. However, City, who are currently second in the league under manager Pep Guardiola, were unable to hold onto the lead given to them by Erling Haaland, as Demarai Gray scored a spectacular equalizer for Everton.

In the second half, Gray’s world-class goal helped Everton earn a well-deserved draw against the reigning champions. Everton made two changes from their Boxing Day defeat at home to Wolves, with Yerry Mina and Anthony Gordon both missing due to illness and Ben Godfrey and Conor Coady stepping in.

Haaland, who is currently in excellent form, was confronted by Godfrey in the opening minutes and proceeded to play with a possessed intensity.

He opened the scoring for City midway through the first half with a powerful right-footed shot from close range, assisted by Riyad Mahrez. Despite Jordan Pickford’s efforts, Haaland was able to find the back of the net.
