Juventus docked 15 points deduction for transfer deals
The Italian soccer federation (FIGC) announced that Juventus will be deducted 15 points for the current season due to an investigation into their transfer dealings.
With 20 games remaining in the season, Juve is currently in third place in Serie A, 10 points behind leaders Napoli.
This points deduction would drop them to mid-table, eliminating them from contention for European competition.
The ruling is more severe than the nine-point deduction that a soccer prosecutor had previously requested.
Additionally, former Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli has been banned from holding office in Italian soccer for 24 months, and former Juve sports director Fabio Paratici, now at Tottenham Hotspur, has been banned for 30 months.
Juventus has maintained that they have not engaged in any wrongdoing and that their accounting practices comply with standards.
