Video: Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech has red card changed to yellow after VAR check vs Spurs
During Sunday’s London derby between Tottenham and Chelsea, a peculiar incident occurred involving Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech.
Near the end of the first half, Ziyech was shown a red card by referee Stuart Attwell after appearing to push Tottenham’s Emerson Royal in the face during a scuffle.
However, after reviewing the incident on the pitch-side monitor, Attwell reversed his decision and instead gave Ziyech a yellow card.
Video replays showed that Ziyech had made contact with Emerson’s face, but his hand had slipped after initially pushing him on the shoulder.
The scuffle had started after Ziyech fouled Richarlison. Despite the incident, Ziyech was allowed to continue playing in the second half.
Tottenham ultimately took the lead in the second half after Oliver Skipp’s goal, while Chelsea had earlier lost Thiago Silva to injury.
