Video: Chelsea 2-4 Wolves Premier League
Chelsea’s impressive Stamford Bridge run came to a screeching halt on Saturday as they were thrashed 4-2 by a clinical Wolves side.
Matheus Cunha’s hat-trick and an unfortunate own goal condemned the Blues to a fifth loss in their last eight league games, sending them tumbling into the bottom half of the table.
Despite entering the match on a ten-game unbeaten streak at home, Chelsea were second best from the outset. Wolves’ high press rattled the home side, and despite an early goal from Cole Palmer, the visitors quickly equalized through a deflected Cunha effort. The Blues offered little resistance, and an own goal from Axel Disasi just before the break put Wolves in control.
Cunha continued his torment in the second half, netting twice to complete his hat-trick. Thiago Silva pulled one back for Chelsea, but it was merely a consolation on a forgettable afternoon.
The defeat exposed Chelsea’s recent slump, marked by inconsistent performances and defensive frailties. Their once-formidable home advantage has evaporated, and concerns over their top-four aspirations are growing.
