Rashford extends Manchester United deal until 2028
Manchester United has officially announced that their talented English forward, Marcus Rashford, has committed to a fresh contract that will extend his stay with the club until June 2028. This deal effectively puts an end to all speculations about his future with the team.
Rashford, who is currently 25 years old, showcased exceptional performance during the 2022-23 season, impressively scoring 30 goals in 56 appearances for the Red Devils and contributing 11 assists.
Previously, there were doubts surrounding his long-term commitment to the club, given that his previous contract was set to expire at the end of the upcoming season. Paris Saint-Germain had been linked with the talented England international, who boasts an impressive record of 123 goals and 68 assists in 359 appearances for Manchester United.
However, fans and the coaching staff can now breathe a sigh of relief as Rashford has signed a new five-year deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2028. Head coach Erik ten Hag is undoubtedly pleased with this significant boost to the team ahead of the upcoming season.
Expressing his feelings about the contract extension, Rashford conveyed his deep-rooted connection to Manchester United: “I joined Manchester United as a seven-year-old boy with a dream. That same passion, pride, and determination to succeed still drives me every time I have the honour of wearing the shirt.”
He also emphasized his ambition to achieve more success with the team and help secure more trophies in the years to come. As a lifelong United fan, Rashford understands the responsibility that comes with representing the club and remains dedicated to taking the team to greater heights.
The club’s football director, John Murtough, praised Rashford’s qualities, both on and off the pitch, as he recognized the player’s humble, dedicated, and driven nature. The team believes that Rashford, who is entering his prime years, has the potential to become one of the best attacking players globally.
Rashford has already returned to training with Manchester United to prepare for the new season. While he won’t be part of the squad for Wednesday’s pre-season match against Lyon, he will join the Red Devils on their pre-season tour of the United States. Their 2022-24 Premier League campaign will kick off on August 14 with a match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
