Newcastle Consider Move for £30 Million Arsenal Out-of-Favor Player
Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is reportedly open to joining Newcastle United during the January transfer window.
The England international, who moved to Arsenal from Sheffield United for a hefty sum of £30 million in 2021, started the season as the first-choice goalkeeper but was later replaced by David Raya.
Despite his impressive performances, Arteta seems to favor Raya as the long-term option in goal.
Ramsdale has made sporadic appearances, including a recent Premier League match against Brentford and a Champions League draw against PSV Eindhoven.
While there have been rumors linking him to other clubs, Newcastle, who recently lost Nick Pope to injury, is among the admirers of Ramsdale.
If a substantial offer were to come in for a permanent transfer or an enticing option as part of a loan deal, it could potentially sway Arsenal’s stance1.
Interestingly, it suggests that Ramsdale’s openness to a move to St. James’ Park might facilitate the deal.
On a related note, Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney is also said to be open to joining Newcastle United.
Frustrated by his lack of game time at the Emirates, Tierney could be a summer target for the Magpies.
