Milan beats Lazio 2-0 to boost top-4 hopes
AC Milan secured a 2-0 victory over Lazio in Serie A, which provided a confidence boost ahead of their Champions League semifinal match in four days.
However, their key forward Rafael Leão suffered an injury and had to leave the match.
Ismaël Bennacer and Théo Hernandez scored Milan’s two goals, helping them to reclaim a top-four spot in Serie A and reduce the gap to Lazio to three points.
Currently, Milan is one point ahead of Inter Milan, who will play against Roma later in a direct battle for a Champions League spot next season.
Milan and Inter Milan are set to meet in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals on Wednesday, with the return leg scheduled for the following Tuesday.
Despite their win, Milan may face the upcoming games without Leão, who limped off the field due to a thigh injury in the 11th minute of Saturday’s match.
Ante Rebić had a disallowed goal for Milan due to offside in the 83rd minute.
