Messi named FIFA player of the year 2022
At a ceremony in Paris, Lionel Messi was awarded the title of men’s player of the year at the 2022 Best Fifa Awards.
The renowned player, who represents Paris St-Germain and Argentina, was chosen over contenders Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema of France.
During the previous season, Messi demonstrated his talent by scoring 27 goals in 49 games for his club and country, contributing significantly to Argentina’s third World Cup win.
Meanwhile, Lionel Scaloni was honored with the title of men’s coach of the year for his role in the triumph in Qatar, prevailing over competitors Pep Guardiola of Manchester City and Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid.
Additionally, Alexia Putellas, who represents Barcelona and Spain, was named women’s player of the year.
