Marseille kick PSG OUT of Coupe de France
Marseille defeated Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 in the French Cup at Stade Velodrome on Wednesday, thanks to a stunning second-half winner from Ruslan Malinovskyi.
The Ukrainian international’s goal was the difference-maker in a closely contested match, which saw Alexis Sanchez give Marseille the lead from the penalty spot early in the first half.
However, Sergio Ramos equalized for PSG just before half-time. Despite close calls from Lionel Messi and Neymar, Marseille held on for their first home win against PSG since 2011.
This marks PSG’s second early exit in the Cup after their last-16 loss to Nice last season.
Marseille, now favorites to win the trophy for the first time since 1989, will move on to the quarter-finals while PSG faces elimination.
