Manchester United Held by Brentford in 1-1 Draw
Manchester United were denied a victory they scarcely deserved at Brentford, as Kristoffer Ajer’s 99th-minute equalizer salvaged a 1-1 draw in a thrilling climax.
Mason Mount appeared to secure the win for United in stoppage-time with his first goal for the club in the 96th minute, against the flow of play.
However, Brentford managed to find the net three minutes later with their 31st shot of the game, courtesy of Ajer. United’s performance was lackluster until the late stages of the match.
Brentford will be left wondering how they failed to convert any of their numerous chances prior to United taking the lead.
They hit the woodwork four times, while Andre Onana made a crucial double save to deny Yehor Yarmoliuk and Keane Lewis-Potter. This was just a fraction of their missed opportunities.
With Aston Villa and Tottenham securing victories, United find themselves eight points adrift of fifth place, having been outplayed by a team only five points above the relegation zone and without a win in their last seven matches. Despite having 31 shots, Brentford were unable to secure a victory.
