Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk facing a month out with hamstring injury
It has been revealed that Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk’s hamstring injury is worse than initially thought and he is expected to be out for an extended period of time.
Van Dijk, 31, was substituted at halftime in Liverpool’s 3-1 loss to Brentford on Monday, and while manager Jurgen Klopp initially stated that he did not believe the injury was serious, subsequent assessments have shown otherwise.
This is a significant blow to Liverpool’s campaign as Van Dijk, a regular starter this season, may miss games in multiple competitions.
The team is set to undergo tests to determine the severity of the injury, and in the meantime, Klopp can choose from Ibrahima Konate, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, and Nat Phillips to fill in for Van Dijk.
