Dortmund’s Commanding Performance Secures Win Against Newcastle
In the earlier match, Borussia Dortmund secured a crucial 2-0 win over Newcastle United, allowing them to claim the top spot in a tightly contested Group F.
Right from the kickoff, Dortmund applied pressure, and German striker Niklas Füllkrug broke the deadlock in the 26th minute, capitalizing on a pass from Marcel Sabitzer to net his first goal in this prestigious competition.
Newcastle’s best opportunity came early in the second half when Joelinton’s header missed the target. Later, in the 79th minute, Julian Brandt sealed the victory for Dortmund.
With this win, Dortmund now leads the group with seven points, narrowly edging past Paris Saint-Germain, who currently have six points and will face AC Milan in their upcoming match. Newcastle has accumulated four points but has lost the head-to-head tiebreaker to Dortmund, having suffered defeat in their previous encounter as well.
Later on Tuesday, the defending champions, Manchester City, have the chance to secure their spot in the knockout stage with a win against the Swiss side Young Boys.
