Borussia Dortmund Eyes Mason Greenwood in Strategic Move

Borussia Dortmund has shown interest in signing Mason Greenwood from Manchester United this summer.

However, they plan to wait until after the Champions League final against Real Madrid to make their move.

Mason Greenwood, who spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Getafe, impressed with 10 goals and six assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.

Borussia Dortmund has benefited from taking United winger Sancho on loan for the second half of the campaign and sees Greenwood as a potential similar deal, especially with just one year left on his contract.

Despite the interest from other major European clubs, including Juventus, Atletico Madrid, and Napoli, Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl has refrained from discussing transfer rumors ahead of their crucial match.

Greenwood’s future became uncertain after he was arrested in October 2022 but the charges were dropped in February 2023.

Following an internal review, United decided to loan him out, leading to his successful stint at Getafe where he was named the Spanish side’s player of the season.

Manchester United is reportedly hoping to secure a transfer fee close to £40 million for Greenwood.
