In their season opener against Borussia Monchengladbach, the defending champions showcased their signature last-minute heroics, clinching a thrilling 3-2 victory.

Bayer Leverkusen started strong, with Granit Xhaka opening the scoring in the 12th minute, followed by a second goal from Florian Wirtz in the 38th.

However, Gladbach fought back, equalizing with goals from Nico Elvedi and Tim Kleindienst.

Just when it seemed like the match would end in a draw, a late penalty in the 10th minute of added time gave Leverkusen the edge. Although Wirtz’s initial spot-kick was saved, he pounced on the rebound to secure the win.
