Barcelona will face Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final
Barcelona narrowly advanced to the Spanish Supercopa final on Sunday, where they will face Real Madrid in an El Clasico matchup.
Robert Lewandowski put Barca in the lead in the first half, but Nabil Fekir equalized for Betis with 15 minutes remaining in regulation time.
Extra time was required, and Ansu Fati scored a beautiful volley early on to give Barca a 2-1 lead. However, Loren Moron equalized for Betis with an exquisite backheel.
Despite a red card for Andres Guardado, Betis forced the match to penalties.
Both teams scored their first two attempts, but Marc-Andre Ter Stegen saved Juanmi and William Carvalho’s penalties, allowing Fati to score the game-winning penalty and send Barcelona to the final.
Despite giving up the lead twice, Xavi will be relieved to have advanced to the final and will hope for a better outcome against Real Madrid.
