Atalanta vs Inter Milan Prediction & Match Preview

All eyes will be fixed on Gewiss Stadium as Atalanta and Inter prepare for an eagerly awaited Serie A clash on a Saturday afternoon.

Atalanta is coming off a convincing 3-0 victory over Empoli and is aiming to continue their winning streak. However, they face a formidable challenge against the title-chasing Nerazzurri.

A player to closely watch on the home side is Gianluca Scamacca, who recently netted a brace in Monday’s match. Unfortunately, Atalanta will be without the services of both Davide Zappacosta and Jose Luis Palomino, who are sidelined due to injuries.

In contrast, the visiting team secured a hard-fought 1-0 win against Roma over the weekend, with Marcus Thuram scoring the decisive goal. Inter is determined to maintain their position at the top of the Serie A standings. However, Atalanta has a reputation for being a tough opponent on their home turf in Bergamo, making a draw an enticing possibility.

Juan Cuadrado remains sidelined with a muscle injury, while Marko Arnautovic is expected to recover in time to face Atalanta.

Team News:

Atalanta is still without summer signing El Bilal Toure, who is dealing with a thigh injury, and center-back Jose Luis Palomino, who is sidelined due to a muscular issue. Coach Gian Piero Gasperini hopes that two key players won’t join the absent duo on the injury list for the upcoming game.

Highly-rated defender Giorgio Scalvini is currently struggling with a back problem, and wing-back Davide Zappacosta has been battling an illness, although neither has been ruled out for Saturday’s match.

Gianluca Scamacca, who opted for Atalanta over Inter in the last transfer window, has been in excellent form, netting two braces in just four Serie A starts this season.

The Italian striker may once again form an attacking partnership with Ademola Lookman, while Milan loanee Charles De Ketelaere offers an alternative option for Gasperini.

Meanwhile, Inter is still awaiting the return of Marko Arnautovic, who has been dealing with a thigh injury, and Juan Cuadrado, who is recovering from an Achilles issue. Both players have not yet resumed full training.

Inter’s lineup is expected to remain similar to the one that started against Roma in the previous match, with any potential rotation likely to come in the upcoming Salzburg fixture. Leading the attack will be Lautaro Martinez, who has scored 12 goals, alongside Marcus Thuram, who is currently in excellent form.

Thuram is one of only five players in Europe’s top five leagues to have accumulated at least four goals and four assists this season, a group that includes Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah, Ollie Watkins, and Julian Brandt.
