AC Milan vs Sassuolo Prediction & Match Preview

AC Milan’s Serie A title aspirations suffered a major blow last Friday when they were held to a disappointing 2-2 draw by bottom-placed Salernitana. The Rossoneri are now eleven points adrift of leaders Inter Milan, but they will at least want to end the year on a high note when they welcome Sassuolo to Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Saturday evening.

AC Milan have only won one of their last three league games, and their defensive frailties were once again exposed against Salernitana. Given Sassuolo’s attacking prowess, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Rossoneri concede again this weekend.

However, Stefano Pioli’s men are still strong favorites to claim all three points. Sassuolo have lost three of their last four league matches and drawn the other, and they have shipped two or more goals in seven consecutive Serie A outings. They now have the second-worst defensive record in the league, with only rock-bottom Salernitana having conceded more goals (32) this season.

Sassuolo’s latest setback came eight days ago when they were beaten 1-2 at home by Genoa, conceding two late goals at the Mapei Stadium.

AC Milan only took one point from their two meetings with Sassuolo last season.

Sassuolo secured a stunning 5-2 victory in their previous away clash against AC Milan in January 2023.

Seven of the last eight head-to-head encounters between these two sides have produced three or more goals.

Prediction:

AC Milan are heavily favored to win this match, but their recent defensive struggles suggest that Sassuolo may well find the net at some point. We’re predicting a narrow 2-1 victory for the Rossoneri.
