LaLiga champions suffer second defeat since winning the title
Barcelona will return home empty-handed for the second consecutive match as Real Valladolid secured victory by scoring a third goal late in the second half.
Real Valladolid had a fantastic start to the game, taking the lead within 90 seconds thanks to an own goal by Andreas Christensen. Cyle Larin then doubled their advantage from the penalty spot, capitalizing on Eric Garcia’s foul on Gonzalo Plata in the box.
Plata further extended La Pucela’s lead by confidently finishing past Inaki Pena, who replaced Marc-Andre Ter Stegen as Barcelona’s goalkeeper during halftime.
Real Valladolid delivered an outstanding performance and thoroughly deserved the win. The result will propel them above Getafe into the 17th position, lifting them out of the relegation zone, which could prove vital in their battle for survival.
Barcelona’s performance has been highly disappointing, resulting in consecutive defeats for Xavi Hernandez’s team, following their loss to Real Sociedad on Saturday.
