Video Goal Juventus 1-1 Sevilla Europa League
In the first leg of the Europa League semifinals, Juventus managed to secure a 1-1 draw against six-time champion Sevilla thanks to a late goal from substitute Federico Gatti.
Gatti headed in the equalizer in the seventh minute of added time, keeping the Italian team’s hopes for a European trophy alive after a long drought.
However, Juventus will have to win in the second leg next week to have a chance to claim their first European title since winning the Champions League in 1996.
Sevilla, who eliminated Manchester United in the quarterfinals, proved once again that they are a title contender, with Youssef En-Nesyri scoring their only goal in the 26th minute. Sevilla has never lost a semifinal in this competition.
Meanwhile, in another semifinal, Roma beat Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 to stay on course to claim back-to-back European titles.
Edoardo Bove scored the decider in the 63rd minute, with the 20-year-old midfielder netting his first European goal on a rebound with a left-foot strike after goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky saved the initial attempt by forward Tammy Abraham.
Leverkusen, coached by Xabi Alonso, who played for Roma’s coach Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, failed to capitalize on Roma goalkeeper Rui Patrício’s blunder in a clear chance to equalize, with Jeremie Frimpong missing the opportunity.
Mourinho’s team won the inaugural edition of the third-tier Europa Conference League last year.
